How to Hold Back a Winning Hand

There’s nothing better than the feeling of suddenly having a big hand (even if it’s not what you wanted). Whether it’s in a Hold ’em tournament or a high stakes bola88 game, the rush you feel can be very pleasing. However, the problem is that you have to be able to be patient and not show too much. Sure – you may have been folding up the entire time and only calling when you could get a cheap flop, but now you have a hand and you should be raising it. How do you know when it’s the right time to do so?

First of all, there are a few things to take into consideration. First of all, there are no guarantees. We know this, and we know that no matter what cards we play, there is no sure thing. Neither is there a sure hand if neither of the players has any idea of what the other has. There are just things to take into consideration – and remember that the main rule of thumb is not rocket science.

When deciding whether to raise in a situation you may have been folding your hands to, you should consider a few things. If you have only a few chips in play and the pot is small, you should probably check and call. A more traditional approach would be to equate the amount of buyin the pot and the size of the blinds. If you have $100 in play and the blinds are $5/$10, you would probably call in position. In position, you can always reraise when someone raises after you. Then you can choose your next tactic depending on the reaction of the other players. Depending on how the players respond, you could reraise again or even go all in. This will be dependent on how your opponent has played so far.

As far as reactions go, your opponents’ reactions are King whether you raise with a hand or not. If you’ve been very passive so far, you will probably get an ace or king or something like that. If you’ve been quite aggressive, you will probably get a lot of callers. The Goldilocks situation. . . you want to get a little money in the pot while keeping your opponents in the hand. If you raise, you expect to get a lot of calls. If you get raised, you are willing to call all the way so as not to scare off your opponents.

So, for example, you raise preflop in position and your opponent very aggressively calls your raise. . . if you have a lot of chips, you should probably bet out right now. . . the worst play you could make is to check, and let your opponent see a free card. . . your goal is to keep your opponent in the hand! . . unless you have a really big hand. In which case, you can do a lot of things. Hence the term, betting style, strategic interplay.

The approaches noted above are just some of the ways to play, but not necessarily the best ways. . .cats to be on the lookout for when you are playing poker!. . Various styles, whether you call them out or not just make your opponents raise their hands, whether you hit the flop or not, just keep your game non-stop furious. . . You have to keep your poker face on, and yet play at a level that is just a little bit at risk.
